Tricia Mullan - Fiddle

Picture
Tricia is a fiddle player from East Kilbride and graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Scottish Music. Her fascination with traditional music began at a young age, stemming from her Donegal roots. She began violin lessons aged nine while living in Oregon, USA and studied both classical and traditional music simultaneously for several years.

During her time at the Conservatoire, Tricia’s playing continued to develop drawing influence from the west highland fiddle style and pipe tunes, French Canadian and Scandinavian folk music, as well as building on her love of music from Donegal and other parts of Ireland.

Tricia’s time at the Conservatoire was also spent developing her composition and arranging skills.  Among many the projects during her degree, a collaboration with students from the Conservatoire’s jazz department led to her involvement in the composition of music for the first staging of Edwin Morgan’s ‘The Play of Gilgamesh’ to impressive reviews.

Since graduation, Tricia has continued to compose and arrange tunes with new project, Routes String Quartet, as well as enjoying solo performances at the Mull of Kintyre Festival and Neil Gow Festival.
